The Rupertswood Football Netball Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Shane Abdilla as our Senior Men’s Football Coach for the 2027/2028 season.
Following a thorough recruitment and interview process, Shane emerged as the outstanding candidate to lead our senior football program into its next chapter.
Shane is no stranger to Rupertswood. He has been part of the coaching group for our 2018 Under 18, 2019 Senior and 2025 Senior Premierships, and has spent the past two seasons working closely with our senior playing group.
He also brings extensive experience across community, talent pathway and elite football environments, with roles at the Western Bulldogs, Calder Cannons, AFL Victoria and Essendon Football Club.
What stood out throughout the process was Shane’s outstanding football knowledge and understanding of the game. He has a proven ability to read the game, develop players and communicate football in a way that brings people with him. Combined with his strong relationships, player-first approach and understanding of Rupertswood, we believe Shane is extremely well placed to take our football program forward.
His vision places a strong emphasis on high standards, player and coach development, and strengthening the pathway between our junior and senior programs, while continuing to build a strong One Club culture.
We are excited to see Shane lead the next chapter of our Senior Men’s program
